Why I started The Creative Lab

The Creative Lab is more than just a studio. It’s a sanctuary born from personal experience. In a world of screens, distractions, and expectations that often felt overwhelming, I found peace by returning to the tangible act of creation. It's a restorative practice that lets me escape a busy mind and reconnect with myself and my loved ones.

I started The Creative Lab to share this philosophy. Our adult and family workshops are intentionally kept small and intimate, so you have the space to truly be mindful and get grounded in the moment. I believe that everyone deserves a break from the noise to find their own moment of peace through the tactile joy of creating.

    FOUNDER

    Hi, I'm Miri, founder of The Creative Lab. I'm a lifelong maker at heart, and after 15+ years leading marketing teams in tech and ecommerce, I found a restorative practice in hands-on creative work. I believe in the power of using your hands to calm a busy mind and reconnect with yourself and your loved ones. I started The Creative Lab to share this philosophy and create a space where everyone can feel creative, confident, and completely themselves.

    Hi! I'm Lauren and I’m a fourth-year Art and Applied Psychology student at UCSB wit a lifelong love for making, especially painting and all things crafty.

    I believe that focusing on one creative process at a time is a powerful way to de-stress and find a moment of peace.When I’m not in the studio, you’ll likely find me hiking, surfing, or chasing wildflowers with my camera.

    Hi, I'm Ruby, and I have a big love for all things creative. I find joy in making something fun, whether it's graphic design or crafting.

    At The Creative Lab, I'm so excited to help people explore their artistic side and turn their ideas into colorful, creative masterpieces.

    Hi! I’m Zea, a lifelong artist with a BA in Art from UCSC and a deep love for creative exploration. My journey started early, making dolls from clay and felt, painting everything in sight, and dreaming up imaginative worlds. I believe everyone should be able to express themselves through art, and I am so excited to be a part of this program that encourages artistic exploration.

    HONORY MEMBER

    Hi, I’m Remy, the chocolate lab around here (and yes, the cutest member of the team). Full disclosure: The Creative Lab wasn’t my idea. If it were up to me, we’d call it The Lazy Lab. But I guess napping isn’t considered a creative discipline... yet.

    I won't get my paws dirty, but I'm great at providing calm vibes and the occasional tail wag to the studio.
